I am trying to include the NetSNMP-v5.4.1 subagent and master agent logic on to
another platform we have here at work and it seems the subagent starts
successfully but can not register/connect to the master agent.
The following warning is now being seen:
Warning: Failed to connect to the agentx master agent (/var/agentx/master)
Using the same NetSNMP code I have been able to include NetSNMP on to other
platforms we have here at work successfully (ie: subagent registers with master
fine), but this latest platform does not allow the subagent to register with
the master agent.
Will someone please recommend some reasons why this warning is being produced
and what I can check to resolve it?
The snmpd.conf file I am using has the following lines:
master agentx
agentxsocket /var/agentx/master
rocommunity pace_ro
agentXPingInterval 60
The subagent agentX code has the following logic which is positioned right
before the call to init_agent():
netsnmp_ds_set_string(NETSNMP_DS_APPLICATION_ID,
NETSNMP_DS_AGENT_X_SOCKET,
"/var/agentx/master");
