Hi Wes!

Thanks for your help!

At the moment I restrict the elements using

rwuser USER1 authnopriv 1.3.6.1
rwuser USER2 authpriv 1.3.6.1

Is there a better way to do it?

Besides that if I could get the user name it will be very useful because I need
to differentiate users. I want that the two users access to the same elements
but only one user can set the element with a particular value... That's why it
would be very useful to differentiate the users by the name. Can you give me
more clues?

Thanks,
Ângela

The proper way to do that is with VACM settings that restrict elements of the
data to particular users.

Yes there is a way to get that information but it is very very very very very
very very discouraged. You shouldn't do it. It prevents the code from work in
other SNMP version cases (SNMPv1/SNMPv2c or a future
SNMPv4) and it prevents it from working properly in subagent type cases (agentx
or proxying). The VACM settings are the right way to control access.
