Well, that is their decision. I hope you at least have got some kind of
description of the variables and what they should do when accessed. I
also hope you make sure it is possible to write a MIB for the stuff even
if you don't do it right now, alas that is their money.

It depends on the structure of the commands - are there just a bunch of
variables that you can write a digit or a string or something to or are
there something else?

That is their choice. I am only concerned with them having it in the
first place - it is a design document and as such it is helpful for the
poor bastard that get to support/extend it the next time around.
