If it's in the patch tracker, it shouldn't get lost... So generally we recommend that folks submit patches to the patch tracker (or a bug, if there is one), and then send a message to the list with the url for the patch/bug. You've already sent the mail obviously, but I still recommend the patch tracker, just to be on the safe side...
