IMHO, support for asymmetric routing is more important that supporting
broadcast queries.

Well, I'd like to have working both, I have many customers who require
responses to broadcast packets and other really weird stuff.

Do you have a tool to generate these broadcasts and other really weird
stuff? (In case you weren't aware, the net-snmp command line tools
can not send broadcasts.) If so, would you please consider trying my
suggested solution, which I believe works properly both for my
scenario and yours?

Using attached tool, I've (finally) tested that your patch seems to work as expected and 1) snmpd sends responses to unicast requests on the same interface where the request was received. 2) snmpd responds to broadcast requests and it seems it also uses the right interface, i.e. having a machine with two intefaces facing the same network, broadcast arrives to both of them and both send also a response). Dunno what it can be good for, but it should not do any harm.

Thanks a lot for your patch!

Jan
