But if you guys can't test obsolete OSes, then what's the value of backwards compatibility -- especially when OS distributions like FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD openly deprecate versions of their OS within a few years of their initial release? > We've really just got one person that does occasional cleanup of the BSD side, > so we'd be more than glad to get more help in that arena. For now I'm going to implement quick hacks to get the port upgraded to 5.7, push back minimal patches to the FreeBSD maintainer to get things building in the project for all supported versions (esp with 9.0-RELEASE feature freeze around the corner), then work on cleaning stuff up / fixing things with a handful of other interested parties that have contacted me off-list. All that and I need to implement some later (RFC-4xxx) ipv6 MIB-related functionality by October. Fun times.. Thanks! -Garrett ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable. Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes sense of it. IT sense.
