Use of BIT STRING data type in MIBs

Hi, I'm writing a snmp agent & MIB for an embedded system. I would like to use the BIT STRING data type. But by searching the web for snmp tools I found only the net-snmp project which supports the BIT STRING. So my fear is that "BIT STRING" is  very seldom used, and it could be better (but not so elegant) to use the INTEGER data type instead. Andreas
