Let's try a slightly more confusing analogy:
 Bill has cable, Dave has satellite, and Bob has an antenna.  

Each tunes-in to Are You Being Served?  But:
 Bill's on channel 4, Dave's on 57, and Bob's on 17.

All get the same data regardless of channel.  You're instru-
mentation knows that the OIDs 4, 57, and 17 point to the data
Are You Being Served?  You can then change OID 57 to point to
data American Idol.  At which point Dave will be enraged, but
the Agent is none the wiser.  The Agent still gives you the
notification that OID 57 needs to be serviced.  

Note:  You might find the trend that OID 57 will receive fewer
and fewer requests once users realize the data to be American
Idol though.
