But I'm not able to understand one thing that in first scenario when I try to start snmp agent from path " /home/sanjay/net-snmp/agent " I'm able to use net-snmp-config command to create a user successfully even though if my snmp agent is in running state.I can see the process running as lt-snmpd But in second scenario when I start snmp agent from path "/usr/local/sbin" I see the process as just "snmpd" and in this scenario I'm not able to excute command net-snmp-config What can be the problem in second scenario?Please help me out. That's because the "net-snmp-config" mechanism is designed to create users while the agent is *NOT* running. It edits the snmpd.conf files, ready for the agent to read when it next starts up. If you do this while the agent is still running, then the changes made will be lost. If you want to use "net-snmp-config" to create users, then you *MUST* shut the agent down first.
