I'm running Debian Woody based on 2.4.18-bf2.4, using snmpd version 5.1.2

It has been running fine until Monday afternoon when it just shuts down itself for no reason at all. I start it up, the script polls against it fine for about 8 mins then it shuts down!

The script I'm using is MRTG and nothing has been changed at all. The only thing I can remember was doing an apt-get update/upgrade and installed lm-sensors but removed it later on. I did a research and found some little info about lm-sensors and snmpd, but I can't find the link.

Here's the error message I got from snmpd when I tried to start it up. Note that the first 4 lines are working fine and then bam! Error:

2004-10-08 22:38:38 -- Started mrtg
2004-10-15 22:40:01 -- Started mrtg
2004-10-15 22:45:01 -- Started mrtg
2004-10-15 22:50:01 -- Started mrtg

I have tried removing the snmpd package and then installing it again. Still makes no difference.

I did a ps aux | grep snmp after starting it up and I can see it running in the background. But soon, it disappears from the list. Usually 8 to 10 mins later on.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.
