As far as i know UCD-DISKIO-MIB is the only MIB that implement disk access
read/write infos ,(
perhaps someone else can help. So perhaps the best is like Robert told u,
check if the net-snmp on SLSE 9
gets compiled with dlmod and compile the UCD-DISKIO-MIB or any other MIB
implementation that support diskIO,
so u could survice any patch by Suse. There is a OID that show the compile
options of net-snmp, but i couldnt find it,
i though its was under UCD too. Your last change would be a passthough or if
compile with embedded perl , a script that
monitor the diskIO, something like this http://lists.netmrg.net/post-322.htm
or http://www.rrdbrowse.org/manual/#pod2docbook-ch-1-sect-3-f.

Thanks Alexander,

I a bit new with Net-SNMP here... If UCD-DISKIO-MIB is obsolete, what it
the OID that will give me the disk access (read and write)? We are using
MRTG to plot the value and see what are the stress on the server. For the
compilation, all the other SLSE 8 where compile with it and yes it is easy.
But for SLSE 9, SuSE will eventually send a patch for Net-SNMP and will
destroy any custom compile (I guest).

For the MIBS=ALL, I not certain to understand it. I want the server to
report value on disk access using MRTG as mention above. I don't want the
server to do smnp get, walk or nothing else.

=> u understand it right ;) this only count on tools that query a snmp agent

Hello,

i use Suse 9.0 and there is UCD-4xxx the snmpd , did SLES use
net-snmp-5.1.xx ? If u mean UCD-DISKIO-MIB thats obsolete as far as i know.
in common u can copy the mib to your main mib dir ( normaly
/usr/share/snmp/mibs ) and add a -m ALL or add a MIBS=ALL directives to
your
snmp.conf and all snmptools (snmpget/set/walk..) could use the diskIO mib.
Attentionm that only mean u can query an snmp agent that support the diskIO
infos and wouldnt exoand your local snmpd. if u need that u must
recompiling
;( but its not that difficult u could use checkinstall to made a rpm so u
can simply install/remove it.

Subject: SuSE SLES 9 and disk IO

Hi all,
The net-snmp include in SuSE SLES 9 did not have the disk IO mibs included.
Is there a way to have the disk IO mibs to be part of the default without
recompiling it? I guest something we could do in the config file...

Thanks.
