Are all hosts running the same version of net-snmp?

Do they respond if you query on the localhost? If you jack up the timeout
value? Are they consuming lots of CPU/memory?

Can you run one in the foreground and see if packets are received and sent? 

        snmpd -f -Le -d

Nope, but it could be a timeout thing.
