HI:

I have a version 5.0.1 net-snmp version up and running under Red hat 8.0 kernel 2.4.18-14 at an i686, this is compiled from source , not a binary installation

After played with the snmpd.conf, I found I can initiate request and get response back from window XP snmp manager. Yet, when I check with the net-snmp web site

And glance at the mailing list digest, I found my version is older than the version people are talking about,

1.What is the most recent stable release of the net-snmp version? Do I have to do a reinstall or a ungrade?

2.why when I put snmpd.conf under usr/local/share/snmp/(the first suggested dir for snmpd to look for the config file), and start the snmpd, it could not find the config file and complain there is no acess control setup…..

While when I move the same config file to the usr/share/snmp and start the snmpd again it works fine and can response to the client side?

I checked there is no SNMPCONFPATH and other possible setups that will override the searching dir for the config file.

Thanks a lot!!!
