It is important, because different SNMP agents will use different mechanisms and APIs. Its can be just simple console application If you're ahppy to use a standalone application, then have a look at the "snmptrap" utility. That will do exactly what you're asking for. I didn't mention it before, because you were talking about sending a trap from the agent.
