Thanks for this suggestion, Dave! I ran smilint against my MIB and -
oops! - there were a bunch of v1/v2 errors. I've cleaned the MIB up, and
will post it later for review. I have one last section to add, our own
network support - TPTB don't want full SNMP support in the product, and
they haven't decided if leaving MIB-II turned on shows too much
information. And even if we leave in MIB-II, they want me to add the
same data to our MIB that our management GUI shows for network
subsystem. (We're still discussing the whole MIB-II thing . . .)

Thanks again for all your help!

~ Wendy

The first thing to do would be to run them through 'smilint' (or
similar)
to validate the syntax. Our MIB parsing tools are fairly easy-going,
and will accept not-quite-valid MIBs.
smilint is extremely picky, and will report on all sorts of errors
and
inconsistencies. Best to get these dealt with before you go live.

Once your MIBs pass this sort of check, you might want to consider
posting them here (assuming they're not commercially sensitive!),
so we can comment on any design decisions that you might come
to regret later.
It's difficult to make sensible comments about MIB fragments,
taken in isolation. It's much easier when you've got the whole
thing to look at, and can get a better feel for the overall structure.

Dave
