Hi Dave, Thank you for your prompt reply. I know and very well understand that net-snmp-5.1 is very old, unfortunately my problem is that this came as a part of other 3rd party software package that we had bought and they had made certain changes to make snmp work with their software. That company is no more and so I cannot get support from them to understand what were the changes made by them. If I could then I could have tried and ported it on the newer 5.4 version.
I cannot do a diff of 5.1 and 5.4 version either because so many changes would have been done which would make it hard to identify that the change was made by the company from whom we bought the software or was this change as a part of new snmp release. Is there by any chance I can get the net-snmp 5.1 version from somewhere? I looked at the net-snmp website download section and the only version I could find it 5.1.4 which you suggested. If at the least I can get the net-snmp 5.1 version then I can do a diff of the standard and my modified version(copy). Thanks for all your help. There's been a *lot* of debugging and improvements since then, and the 5.1.x line is no longer being supported. We would suggest that you try with a more recent version (ideally 5.4.1).
