Thanks Dave and Pranesh for the responses.

Dave,

We were using the following options to start snmpd.
"-Lsd -x tcp:localhost:705 -a -p /var/run/snmpd.pid"

I removed "-a" option and the message "Received SNMP Packet from " is
not logged now, but the message "Connection from UDP" is still being
logged.
I changed -Lsd to -Ls, but SNMPD is not coming up. There is no snmpd pid
in the process list. I used the option -Lsn to have notice logs, then
also SNMPD did not come up and there is no snmpd pid.

Can you please let me know how to disable the message "Connection from
UDP" as well ?
Meanwhile I will try out the other options.

Thanks & Regards,
Suresh.

Those messages should only be logged if:

  a) You've explicitly enabled this using the '-a' flag
  b) You've activated verbose logging using the '-V' flag
or
  c) You've turned on packet dumping using the '-d' flag

They shouldn't be logged by default.
