HP Systems Insight Manager running on Windows Server 2003 is not receiving
notifications from my agent running on Net-SNMP
5.3.2. It does receive SNMP v1 notifications from a switch and it does
receive the SNMP v2c traps that the Net-SNMP agent sends on shutdown
and cold start. As far as I know SIM has been configured to accept
everything.

These notifications are seen on the system running SIM and also another system
running Net-SNMP. snmptrad logs them as:
nsm380-19.lab.lefthandnetworks.com [UDP: [10.0.57.19]:33002]: Trap ,
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance =
Timeticks: (45857) 0:07:38.57, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID:
NET-SNMP-AGENT-MIB::nsNotifyShutdown, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapEnterprise.0
= OID: NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpNotificationPrefix
nsm380-19.lab.lefthandnetworks.com [UDP: [10.0.57.19]:33011]: Trap ,
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance =
Timeticks: (21) 0:00:00.21, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID:
SNMPv2-MIB::coldStart, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapEnterprise.0 = OID:
NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpAgentOIDs.10

These notifications are not
seen on the system running SIM but are seen on another system running
Net-SNMP. The notifications are seen in Wireshark on the system
running SIM so I know they are getting to the system. snmptrad logs
them as:
nsm380-19.lab.lefthandnetworks.com [UDP:
[10.0.57.19]:33011]: Trap , DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance =
Timeticks: (7630) 0:01:16.30, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.3.1,
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.2.13.2.1.2.1 = STRING: "Volume Status =
offline. In management group critter, the following volumes are offline: vol0.
Value changed.", SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.2.13.2.1.3.1 = STRING:
"......0.+.."
nsm380-19.lab.lefthandnetworks.com
[UDP: [10.0.57.19]:33011]: Trap , DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance =
Timeticks: (7631) 0:01:16.31, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.3.1,
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.2.13.2.1.2.2 = STRING: "Management
Group: 'critter'; Storage Server: 'ns380-19-sgrumm' Status = storage
down. Value does not equal up",
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9804.3.1.1.2.13.2.1.3.2 = STRING: "......0.+.."

Has
anyone had any trouble with HP System Insight Manager receiving traps?
I'm trying to figure out if this is a configuration issue with HP
System Insight Manager or if something special/particular needs to be
done in the agent for SIM?

Thanks,
Scott
