Hello,
I hope someone will take pity
on me.
I have searched and read, searched and read......

I have two
Ubuntu clients, 8.04 and 9.04.
Both have snmp install via apt-get
package.
Later, I installed lm-sensors via apt-get package.
I'm monitoring
both units snmp with opennms.
I have been unsuccessful in getting snmp to
read lm-sensors on either unit with snmpwalk, though lm-sensors does run on
each unit returning appropriate values.
I would like to accomplish this without
removing and reinstalling snmp.
I have not been able to find guidance in how
to get snmp to read lm-sensors when lm-sensors is installed after snmp.
I
have tried many different commands and such as # export MIBS=ALL, without the #
of course and restarting snmp, of course.
Is there no configuration file that
something like: mibfile /usr/share/snmp/mibs/LM-SENSORS-MIB.txt can be added to
such as snmpd.conf, which I tried, unsuccessfully?

Frankly I'm frustrated
and overwhelmed with how to make Linux work for me, the lack of documentation
or methodology for figuring out how tasks are accomplished, too many years of
MS I
guess.

If a recompile or uninstall/reinstall of snmp is the only answer
then that will create an issue with a third installation that is the ultimate
goal of monitoring temp with opennms.

If a recompile is the only answer
could someone point me in the direction of how to do this just so I can test
this on my testbed of ubuntu 9.04, the many short responses I find on the net,
such as 'just recompile' or # ./compile, are confusing because I don't know the
command structures of each distro well enough to tell them apart.

Thank you.
