I've located the source of the problem.  And yes, string overruns does not 
corrupt the source files.

No.

Buffer over-runs could potentially corupt the run-time image of running
process, but would not affect either the application binary, nor the source
code.


Whatever is causing the problems you are seeing, it can not possibly
be string overruns from your new module.
