Which version of the agent are you using? I haven't checked the code logs in detail, but I have a vague recollection of a patch to the software to address what sounds like a very similar issue. If you're not using one of the most recent versions, it would probably be worth trying with the latest release (5.7 or the 5.7.1 release candidate), to check whether this problem is still present.
