I installed Net-Snmp (5.6.1 / 5.7.0 32 bits) in my windows XP host, using the
.exe files downloaded from sourceforge site.
Before the installation I had to install microsoft visual c++ 2008
redistributable and open ssl, as it was required before installing net snmp.
The problem is, at the end of the installation process, I type in the cmd
c:\usr\registeragent.bat to start the service and aparently it succeed, because
a window appeared "Net-SNMP Agent successfully registered as a service".
But when I try to test the service by doing a snmwalk (C:\usr>snmpwalk -v2c -c
public localhost), I obtained a message in the next line "Created directory:
C:/usr/snmp/persist/mib_indexes" and suddenly appears an error window
"snmpwalk.exe has encountered a problem and must be closed"
Viewing that, I go to services through control panel and start the NET-SNMP
service by cliking start, but inmediately appears an error window that says:
"snmpd.exe has encountered an error and must be closed". So, net-snmp service
never starts and can't be used.
I would like someone can help me saying what could be the error, if I forgot
some steps or if t net-snmp definitly can't work in Windows, only in Linux. I
really need to run this program on my computer, to use snmpv3 features in
windows. Just in case, I googled and also searched in net-snmp page and I
couldn't find anything about a problem like I'm having.
Please help me as soon as possible, or tell me where else to write this issue,
it's very urgent and thanks in advance.
PD: I wrote a mail before this, I put images in it, I don't know if that's the
reason why it was not published. I have detailed more my problem, and I deleted
the images, so I hope it can be published in order someone can help me. Sorry
