Hi Tina, it refers to humans and robots and the latter are increasingly impossible to tell from the former; there's a "valley" which is occupied by both human and robot - where they may overlap in the future - and where it may be difficult to tell them apart. It's uncanny because it may be machine or living tissue or both, and it can be an area of discomfort for people, someone not knowing who or what they're talking to or confronting.
