I use Ubuntu 24 at work as its the only approved distro; like Edward I have a variety of old machines stripped out and flashed with Atrix, Mint or BitCurator; some have been used as dataloggers others for digital preservation efforts. I have one v.old one with Kali and another somewhere running a pre 2.6 kernel (pre the /dev/mem 1mb restriction). I also have a Pinephone that came with postmarketOS but now has Manjaro but its not my main driver...

Hi Marc,

I'm using Ubuntu 24.04 on a Lenovo laptop. I've been getting old/reconditioned laptops with Windows on them, then wiping them and installing Ubuntu instead, for about ten years now. I think I probably started using Linux because I was doing a lot of green-screening and some 2D animation on Blender, and Blender didn't seem to like Windows very much. I haven't used Blender for ages, but I've stuck with Ubuntu - plus Kdenlive, Inkscape, the Gimp, Audacity and Libre Office. I'm so used to that little family of software, I can't imagine using anything else now!

Hi all,

I'm using Mint Linux for my main desktop and laptop.

Is anyone else using Linux, if so, what OS and why?

Wishing you well.

Marc
