Hi everyone - Having been lurking for a few days, I thought I should introduce myself.
I'm Dougald Hine, one of the authors of the Dark Mountain manifesto. Ruth and Marc got in touch with me a couple of months ago because they'd read the manifesto and wanted to use it as a starting point for a DIWO project. I thought this sounded like a great idea. When they sent me the text for the press release that went out last week, there was only one thing I wanted to change. The original version said I was going to be acting as an "expert guide" - I asked them to drop the word "expert". I'm not an expert on anything - and I'm certainly a beginner when it comes to Mail Art, and to this list - but I'm looking forward to learning from and collaborating with you all over the next few weeks. I've written up a bit more of an introduction, with some background on the Dark Mountain Project, on the DIWO blog: http://www.http.uk.net/diwodarkmountain/?p=30 If you want to read the manifesto, you can download a PDF from here: http://www.dark-mountain.net/about-2/the-manifesto/ When Paul and I wrote the manifesto, the intention was to start a conversation - not to have the final word. I'm looking forward to seeing where that conversation goes next.
