Hi Helen, Have you considered Flattr for donations? It has picked up a bit of interest in the past year or so.
Vodafone offer pay-by-SMS: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/about-us/just-text-giving/just-text-giving-for-donors/ but you have to be a registered charity based in the UK. If you have a wider audience and are of a different organisational type then it may be more complicated. You could also offer a credit system, eg people donate a larger sum which in turn gives them "ticketed" access to performances and/or some other exclusive element. That may be less hassle in terms of micropayments but clearly requires a greater up-front payment, although engaged audiences may indeed be willing to work with that as an option. Hope this helps.
