Love this - on the other hand, know too many people struggling to make
ends meet at all, so that music for example becomes a "hobby" or
"after-hours" thing. But what do I know? I can't even get a job, and when
Azure works a day at substitute teaching, she brings home a whopping $65.
It's rough. I used to work with Foofwa d'Imobilite - for a good 20 years
on and off - and he won't came back to the U.S. at this point - dancers
and choreographers just aren't paid unless they're blue-chip, ballet,
whatever. Most people struggling at the bottom - no matter how good they
are, how devoted, just stay there, maybe give up. It's bad here. Look, we
got maybe 9 rave reviews on the Avatar Woman cd - and sold I think 15
copies in the first couple of months (before most of the reviews) - after
that, we've sold 3. Three. In spite of the reviews. People expect their
music for free and not all of us are Taylor Swifts who can deal with $$ at
the top (last I heard she was worth 65 million). So for us, I told the
company to keep the $15; they spent more than that sending the review
copies out...
Fucking unbelievable.
