is it grub or pygrub ?
If it's really grub then I guess the domU you have is HVM, not PV.
if so, you should not use the XEN kernels (these are for PV domUs) but
a plain i386 kernel. GENERIC has options multiboot, so it should be
loadable by grub.

Problem was narrowed down to recent change by cherry@ - new hypervisor
calls were added but not version-checked. Until this gets resolved, I'm
happy using a 6.1.4_PATCH build.
