Hi,

Running 7.0.2 (amd64), I receive segmentation
faults, mostly from GTK+2 programmes.

For example, when trying to type something in
dialogue boxes like Open... and Save As... the
programme aborts. I tried lxappearance
(searching for a font), netsurf (typing in the
address bar), firefox45, gpicview and gimp
(Open... and Save As...). Running, for example,
gpicview in gdb (bt) gives me:

#0 0x00007f7fed09f6aa in __lwp_park60 ()
from/usr/lib/libc.so.12
#1 0x00007f7fed408f2b in pthread_cond_timedwait
() from /usr/lib/libpthread.so.1
#2 0x00007f7fefc80d44 in g_cond_wait_until ()
from /usr/pkg/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0
#3 0x00007f7fefc1d7ab in
g_async_queue_pop_intern_unlocked () from
/usr/pkg/lib/lib
#4 0x00007f7fefc1dc84 in
g_async_queue_timeout_pop () from
/usr/pkg/lib/libglib-2.0
#5 0x00007f7fefc67389 in
g_thread_pool_thread_proxy () from

#8 0x00007f7fed083de0 in ?? () from
/usr/lib/libc.so.12
#9 0x0000000000000000 in ?? ()

lxappearance' first line is the same, but it has a
thousand
messages from libXcursor.so. As for non-GTK apps,
I had a segfault from sxiv. Its bt:

#0 0x00007f7ff6502d28 in __swhatbuf () from
/usr/lib/libc.so.12
#1 0x00007f7ff6502e80 in __smakebuf () from
/usr/lib/libc.so.12
#2 0x00007f7ff6502cc9 in __srefill () from
/usr/lib/libc.so.12
#3 0x00007f7ff64dfba0 in fgets () from
/usr/lib/libc.so.12

and, again, loads of output from libXcursor.

I ran both memtestplus (but only two passes) and
Dell's
ePSA (it has memtest too). They returned no errors.

I started to receive these segfaults around a
month ago,
on Alpine Linux on the same machine. After two days I
first saw them I got an update that solved the issue
but then they came back. Their presence in NetBSD
made me think that I have some issues with the
hardware
rather than bugs in programmes.

So, what could be the reason for this? Has anyone
had such problems? Should I run memtest for a day?

Thanks for any help. Please let me know
if I need to give some other details.
