I think it is a good idea if I post a quick update here too. I changed the cursor theme - with this cursor theme I received segfaults in Xubuntu as well. I also rebuilt sxiv with gmake and it no longer aborts.
mpg321 is the only thing that dumps core with libpthread in backtrace. -- Cág
