It sounds like you're interested in mounting a disk with a PC
partition map (MBR or GPT) and Windows filesystem (probably NTFS) to
perform some sort of maintenance on it. This may be less common since
Microsoft introduced "BitLocker" disk encryption in 2007 but perhaps
it's still possible on disks that aren't encrypted.
