The kernel should use the graphics resolution set by UEFI or the
bootloader's "gop" command. If you use the "text" command or if
UEFI already starts in "text" mode, it might bei necessary to use
"gop" afterwards to initialize a graphics mode. The kernel doesn't
know about UEFI text mode.
The drm driver may "detect" the monitor and change the display
mode. You would need to disable it with the userconf command
"disable i915drmkms*" including the asterisk. In your boot.cfg
you write this as
userconf=disable i915drmkms*
Ah nice, I was missing the asterisk indeed. Everything works properly now.
Thanks a lot!
Now that I have something working, I’d like it to be automated. Needing to drop
to a boot prompt every time to type in “gop 1” and “text 7” is quickly
annoying. Unfortunately, I don’t see anything in boot.cfg manpage about these
commands, and I tried adding “gop=1” and “text=7” to that file without success.
How can I have these commands executed automatically by the bootloader on every
boot?
Thanks again for your help,
