How can I have these commands executed automatically by the bootloader on every
boot?
You can put such things into /boot.cfg. The syntax is special, e.g.
gop 1
would be
gop=1
Uhm, unfortunately, that doesn’t work, and I actually don’t think this is
possible. I took a look at the code, and it seems the file in which parsing of
boot.cfg is done is sys/lib/libsa/bootcfg.c.
In this file, only “menu”, “banner”, “timeout”, “default”, “consdev”, “root”,
“format” and “clear” are recognized. Unknown commands are handled by a function
given as argument. On i386, this command is defined in
sys/arch/i386/stand/lib/bootmenu.c and implements the additional “dev”, “fs”,
“load”, “rndseed” and “userconf” commands. Nowhere is “gop” or “text”
implemented in boot.cfg, or if it is I couldn’t find it and it doesn’t seem to
have any effect on my computer. ^^’
Anything that isn't required to be done before the menu can be put
into individual menu entries. Each menu entry can include multiple
commands, there again in normal syntax, separated by semicolon.
E.g.:
menu=My special boot:gop 1;rndseed /var/db/entropoy;userconf disable
i915drmkms*;boot netbsd"
This does work. So while my bootloader menu is unreadable, at least netbsd is
booted with decent display settings. :D
