The various 56K protocols are all for downloads only, uploads are
limited to 33600 although most 56K modems rarely achive this. If you
have a lot of mail to send or a web site to upload you are better off
with a 33.6K connection.

Some manufacturers have quite details technical documents on their web
sites, although I can't remember where I read up on this.
