Ian Armstrong said "There, there, don't cry" and then continued:
> Coo. It did exactly the same thing to me at the weekend. I managed

My various body parts are raw (oo-er) through kicking myself about
that one. You see, when I first noticed the problem, I foolishly
exited and tried again. What this did was overwrite the *.bak* file
with the default file from the first attempt. Doh!!!
Anyway, thanks to Ian Armstrong and Paul Cundle for the suggestions.
Guess what I'm doing this weekend guys :-|
BTW, Oi Paul:
> Get PFS2 now.
PFS2? Petrol filling station 2? Am I missing something?
Incidentally, Neil /helpfully/replied:
> Are you saying you haven't made a backup for over five months?
Sigh. Ain't hindsight a wonderful thing.
The last backup I did was just before I got on the net as I upgraded
my hard disk. I've been meaning to get round to it again, but
everyone knows that precaution is something you do after something
goes wrong. Human nature I guess.
I actually use (apparently very occationally ;-) the Video Backup
System. Perfect, it ain't, but it's better than floppies. On the
downside however, It's rather slow, backing up a big HD will take
several 4hr tapes, and while backing up, it ties up both your computer
and your video for long periods of time, which can be unacceptable
in some households.
Maybe I'll use it right now! Oh sorry, I forgot. It's too bloody
late now :-)
