"Stack 10000"  in a shell should be enuff or edit the shell icon.
What kind of site are you trying to download? Something like Yahoo,
BBC or GeoCity will  probably crash most machines. If you are
downloading lots of sites try each one individually and use the D,H
and P options put them all in a script with like..

tcpdl url="http://www.active.co.uk/support/ D5 H0 P0" NOWAIT UPDATE
tcpdl url="http://www.vapor.com/ D14 H0 P0" NOWAIT UPDATE
tcpdl url= ...

then executing <the script>
that will speed things up and use less memory  by keeping the
database small.
