Another reason people use redirection URL's is to provide a URL that
it easier for people to remember.  I used a surf.to URL for a while as
it made for a much better URL than the ones given by ISPs, although I
now have my own domain which looks much more professional.

Plus I never stayed with an ISP for very long anyway although not
because by site was 'dodgy' :)

When I test an ISP they generally run quite fast but once I start
using them as my main ISP they always seem to go downhill. 
Enterprise, Zetnet and UKOL being prime examples.  Although now I'm
using an ISP which is worse than all of them (screaming.net) but at
least I dont pay anything while I'm online which means the lack of
bandwidth is not as much of a problem as it would be if I paid while
I was connected.

Here's hoping screaming.net upgrade their pieces of string with some
real networking equipment some time soon :)
