Port 8080 is often used by ISPs to provide HTTP Proxy service. The
*default* port is 3128 (for Squid, anyway), but 8080 is easier to
remember it seems.
It's *possible* that, since you're trying to access port 8080 of their
website, Voyager is trying to bypass your ISP's proxy server to get to
the site but is instead going directly TO your ISP's proxy server
because its probably running on port 8080. Like I said, it seems to me
that its possible - but I'm certainly no expert in these matters.
You've got to wonder why www.phonenetuk.bt.com:8080 is even used,
anyway. It looks to me like they're running a reverse proxy on the
server (used to speed up outbound data retrieval). Being BT, I'd have
to wonder why ... I doubt they're short on bandwidth.
Sorry I can't be a little more help here.
