Hi all,
I've fairly recently changed my ISP from Freeserve to UKOnline and
am going through the process of persuading my contacts to use my new
email address. I keep checking the old one periodically.
The only way I found to get this to work was to create another
user-account in MD2.
What I've found is that when getting emails from the server, MD2 will
happily report the correct number and download them BUT will *not
store them* if a copy already exists in the other account. eg: For a
little while I was subscribed to this ML under both accounts.
Messages would get sent to me at both addresses and I could
successfully download them from either account *the first time*. As
soon as I dialled up the other account to get what amounted to the
same messages for a second time, they would "download" but they would
not appear in the list available for reading. Any non-duplicate
messages *would* be available.
Now, this doesn't bother me at all under those circumstances - after
all, who wants duplicate mails? But there may well be other people
who use the Netconnect multi-user facilties in a genuine fashion ie:
for more than one physical user. If both users were subscribed to the
same ML, as it stands only the user who checked his mail first would
get those messages. A genuine concern if there is passowrd protection
and so-on in effect.
Is this a setup problem on my machine? (I'm using latest NC2.3 updates
over an original NC2.1, which is MD2 V1.3). Is this a known problem
of Microdot, or is it even deliberate and there's an option switch
somewhere?
Thanks for any help,
Regards,
Ian
