I was quite surprised too, but I kind of expected it not to work -

Concurrent Versioning System (or words to that effect). It's a way of
managing source files (and other files) that form a software package.
It controls access to files and version numbers, and other things that
are related to software development.

CVS is released under GPL and forms part of the GeekGadgets port of
the GNU tools, you can find more information at
