Hi,
I am still very delighted with NetConnect v2. Very good job, Chris !
I will upgrade to V3 as soon as possible.
Anyway, I have come to a point now, where most of my Internet interests are
covered by the either or other program.
I have two registered WWW browsers (IB & V)
I have nice FTP progs (AmFTP, DopusFTP)
I have StrICQ
I have a great Talk client (AmTalk)
I have a great IRC client. (AmIRC)
I have very good Email and Newsystems (YAM, NewsRog (soon) and UMS)
Very good MPEG Players, Addressdatabase (Cmanager), archive-GUIs (X-Arc,
Dopus5) and so on.
I also have some servers installed which I use for local experience
(Apache, ftpd, telnetd, msql2d and more) and open for friends, while I am
online.
But each time I am on the net I run into trouble:
a) is my filesys really save ? (no)
b) Why the heck is this www-proxy so primitive ? (it is discontinued)
c) How can I shorten my time online ? (could I ?)
Yes, you see, as you use servers, GNU ports and such, the filesys becomes
an issue: extended protection bits, users etc.
I feel, that for something like AmiTCP-GENESiS, with 'virtual' MultiUser
support a filesystem is needed, that reflects real MultiUser support.
Very (!) important. I feel this would be the right step to go in the future
for NetConnect: expand the system to be able to serv the net and be fully
compatible to major networking applications.
Also a real http-proxy would be nice. With powerful admin tools. Right now
I have approx 150MB in my cache. I'd like to erase a lot, while keeping
important info. The current implementation will erase all of the cache,
the only pattern is an expire date...
To shorten my time online I could need some local search engine, that
allows me to form several requests offline and fire it immediatly to the
www when I am online, going over my local proxy so I can read it later.
What do you people think about it ? Has the time come to do _serious_
internetting with the Amiga ?

How long is a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.
