Hello again.

Some news.

I've been doing daily test attempts to use Genesis with no changes
to see if it will miraculously start working again.

Today, it finally did...sort off

The mail starting working (my mail server is on 192.168.0.1), this
machine is 192.168.0.4. The gateway is 192.168.0.2.
But newsgroups and http still failed.

I then wondered why.

Checked the firewall from my other machines, news and http no
problems.

Decided to look at the Genesis | prefs and edit. Looked at interface
and noted I had put 192.168.0.2 in both desination AND gateway. I
always wondered what destination was about Checked the Genesis help
and it says the destination didn't have to be filled in and could be
left as 'dynamic' so I decided to delete it and set it to dynamic as
a test.
After a rest of Genesis, lo and behold, bothe news and voyager/http
now work.
I'm leaving that single change in and will monitor for the next week
and will report back.
I shut the Amiga down several times a day as I use it for this mailing
address and downloading and installing test software plus some other
stuff, so it'll be interesting to see if Genesis remains functional.
As it's worked for 3 or 4 periods of time previously and then suddenly
given up the ghost, we'll have to wait and see.

I could be REALLY happy in a weeks time  ;

Regards...Martin
