If that's the case, and it probably is, it wil be NSD (New Style Device)
which has been around for a while. It didn't solve the problems with my 9 GB
Micropolis drive which needs formatting with SPH.

SPH? Haven't you heard of SPH for formatting HDs?

SPH is Sixteen Pound Hammer.
