Nice of you to share it with us!

Chris could you check if you have my order for NC3? Oh hang on! It's still
here on top of the fridge . . .

Surely people of your level of geekness can overcome this problem with a web
bot similar to "I've forgotten my password" or "Review your account"? How different is
making an order for a product from making an order for a daily newsletter etc?

You do have my sympathy for being overworked and underpaid, and getting
these emails while you're trying to do a hundred other things, but the people who
have ordered and received no confirmation
have my sympathy as well. My paranoia goes further--I won't order on-line,
which saves me from such suffering. When I buy NC3 it will be from a shop
that I can phone and harrass by voice. That's more satisfying anyway!

Surely it wouldn't be to hard to make a bot to email:

"You (or someone using your credit card) has ordered (product) and it will
be posted to you as soon as it is available. DO NOT reply to this email (etc)

DO NOT email our personnel with a request for confirmation, as this
notice is the only one you will get."

You can check on progress and estimated date of mailing of (product) at this URL:"

. . . etc

Sorry--but without confirmation in reply, nobody will believe that. Just think
how it would feel to you if you ordered something by voice phone and the
only response was dead silence. Wouldn't you keep shouting down the phone,
and then hang up and ring again?

Chris, LISTEN to what your customers are saying and put youself in their
shoes. Then you might see why you're getting them!
