Just dug about in  settings - mime settings as suggested by Ian. 

The default is to call up x-arc from netconnect2:

There is a button to select save to disk.

Or it seems download it before passing it to x-arc.

Having selected change to disk, I downloaded an lha file from aminet  by
just clicking on the link (Vdisk should get a good showing in the aminet
downloads table!) transfered automatically to disk. 

The section of the requester about x-arc was blacked out.
