Hey, I had this problem in the first two versions (the CD version and
the first update), but it doesn't crash on me anymore since I
installed the latest version. Although it is painfully slow (On a 060
processor). By the time it's started, loaded the interface, I have two
pages of html code handwritten in GoldED :(
When does it crash exactly? Does it take down the entire system, or
does only the program hang, leaving your system ready for use? Which
operating system are you using? Any patches/hacks at startup?

I found leaving the settings to cli the safest. Changing them could
lead to undesired results (such as your programs being whiped from the
harddisk).
But, like you, I'm not complaining. There's room for improvement, but
there always is room for improvement in software market. Today I
finally got this webvision thingy to run. To make it safe for my kids
I ticked the "filter out adult sites". Gee, I had a whale of a time
watching the Western Wall of the Jerusalem Temple!
