When I initially connect to my ISP I normally get good fast transfer
rates of >4000 as stated by V or Amftp. After about 5 minutes this
then begins to decrease until, whilst using V or AmFTP to download
files, it can get below 1000. I then stop the transfer, disconnect,
reconnect, and start again.
I have used various ISP's (ClaraNet, Free4All, UKonline, Freeserve etc
and all appear to do the same thing.
I have my modem baud rate set to 57600 (A1200 Desktop 030/25 with 8Mb
on board and Dynalink V1433VQE modem). Buffer size 32768 using
Artser.device. AmTerm gives my line quality as 036. I have the MTU set
at 1500.
Can anybody tell me where I am going wrong or if everybody's
connections starts out fast and then slows down.
