I had the same error message here,although it was trying to connect to
U-Net
and not BT Internet.What solved it for me was using the correct init
string
for my modem(MagicXpress ISDN TA)which was kindly supplied by Neil
Bothwick.
If you're using the same TA,then try this init string that I use to
connect
at 64k :
AT&F&C1&D2B4\r
