At work we host InterShop e-commerce systems as a sideline. InterShop
uses a web-based site admin system which is extremely heavy on the
JavaScript. Rather than testing for JavaScript 1.1 compliancy, it test
for the browser version. When I had to do an emergency siteadmin
access from home, I had to spoof as Mozilla on AWeb to let me in.
AWeb copes with the JavaScript fine, it's the programmer who hardwired
the checks that has the problem in this case. (It appears to let you
in okay if you have JavaScript disabled on Netscape, but the thing
doesn't work once you're in... *sigh*)

Even on IBM PC machines with 'standard' browser I've had problems. I
run Linux and Netscape 4.61 at work, and have had at least one site
request that I download the latest IE or Netscape for Windows in
order to access the site! :-/ (the site was pretty much generic HTML
so there wasn't even a clear reason for specifying this)
