What a shame, it would be so useful. :(
I've found that Freeserve (for one) will allow you define a second
interface where the log-on consists solely of "GoOnline" (no "dial")
and you fiddle the modem definition not to send an AT&F first. This
seems to reaquire the DNS and localhost name info dynamically and
you're away again. Unfortunately this doesn't work for all ISP's.
Genesis seems to store some IP numbers in ENV: when it goes online.
I'm shooting very much in the dark here, but I wonder if these numbers
could be manually fed into the hostname and DNS boxes and untick the
Query hostname etc boxes.... *IF* that works (I haven't tried) then
it can't be all that hard for the program to be adapted to re-aquire
them for itself from ENV:.
The other alternative is to define an interface which contains those
numbers all the time. Can someone with more knowledge of dial-up
things please say what effect giving static IP numbers in the hostname
and DNS server boxes would do to a connection which normally allocates
dynamically? IYSWIM..
Regards,
Ian
